Many in the printing industry have come to know Autobond as a manufacturer of high quality, high productivity, ultra-reliable laminating and spot UV equipment. This year, Autobond will be demonstrating the Mini 76 TH at the Printing United exhibition, a true workhorse for printers the world over. Next Day Four Color (ND4C) is one such printer that has experienced firsthand what an Autobond can do.

ND4C is a family-owned trade printing business based in Houston, Texas that have delivered high quality printed products exclusively to authorized print resellers including graphic designers, ad agencies, sign shops, photo studios, and print brokers, for over a decade. Coming out of 2019, Todd Frost, owner of ND4C, was looking for ways to deliver high quality products, faster, paving the way to the growth they have seen today.  Frost explains, “I spent some time overseas at a customer of Autobond’s who are in the same trade printing space that we are.  After viewing production speeds, quality of the equipment, and the fact that this would open us up to a new product offering, we decided to move forward with the Mini 76 TPHS.  The fully automatic, pile feeder with Heidelberg Speedmaster feed head, and stacker were most impressive as we were coming from a machine where the operator was ‘attached’ to one end or the other.”

Today, ND4C provides their customers a wide range of products including flyers, brochures, business cards, catalogs, booklets, greeting cards, post cards, and hang tags to name a few. They offer printing services including graphic design, offset and digital printing, ink jet spot, UV/digital embellishment, laminating, foiling, cutting, die-cutting, stitching and more. Autobond, also a family-owned business, connected with ND4C when they purchased their first Autobond laminator close to ten years ago. ND4C added Autobond ink jet spot UV to their capability a few years later to offer their customers quick turnaround spot UV finishes over matte or Soft Touch lamination.  In 2020, with growing need for additional production capacity, ND4C added a new Mini 76 TPHS 29.5” wide x 41.73” long max format, high speed thermal laminator (T), with automatic pile feeder, Heidelberg Speedmaster feed head (H), perfector option to deliver two-sided lamination in one pass (P), and an automated stacker (S). With a top production speed of 7200 B2 (28” x 20”) SPH this machine delivered for ND4C in ways previously unseen.

Frost comments, “While much of our work continues around UV coated products, the laminator has given us a true premium product to build from.  We’ve seen foil and raised spot UV tick up as well due to the different types of laminate we can apply. Since installation of the Autobond I don’t believe we’ve even needed a service call or had any major downtime.   Our operator, while from the industry, had little to no experience on laminators and was trained in just a few days following install.”

We invite you to visit Autobond at the Printing United exhibition, Booth N101, at the Las Vegas Convention Center, October 19-21 to see the Autobond Mini 76 TH-PH-VS laminator in action.
